Farm Operations

Batch management from placement to profit

Track every flock in real time. Daily recording takes minutes. FCR, mortality, and production cost are always current: no spreadsheet compilation at close-out.

Running batches on notebooks and memory

Most farms track production on paper, notebooks, or a shared spreadsheet. The data is always incomplete, never real-time, and compiling it for a close-out report takes hours.

Delayed visibility

FCR problems are discovered at close-out, not on day 30 when you can still intervene.

Manual reconciliation

Someone spends hours compiling close-out reports from scattered daily records.

No benchmark

Without historical data in one place, comparing batch-on-batch performance is impossible.

The complete batch lifecycle

From placement record to close-out analytics, every step is guided and every outcome is calculated automatically.

1

Batch placement

Day 0

Create a new batch record with breed, supplier, placement date, house assignment, and opening count. All downstream records inherit this context automatically.

2

Daily production recording

Staff record daily mortality, feed issued, water consumption, and any observations. Takes under two minutes per house on a mobile device.

3

Weight and growth tracking

Log weighing sessions with sample weights. Livestork calculates average weight, projected close-out weight, and compares against breed standard curves.

4

Health event integration

Any health observation during daily rounds can be escalated to a health event record, linking the treatment history directly to the batch.

5

Batch close-out

Close-out

Record final sale weights, dispatch details, and mortality summary. Livestork calculates closing FCR, cost per kg, and margin against the production cost.

6

Performance analysis

Automated

Closed batches feed into comparison reports: batch vs batch, house vs house, period vs period. No manual compilation required.

What's included

Batch lifecycle management

Track every batch from day-of-placement to close-out with a complete, linked record.

Daily operations log

Record mortality, feed, water, and observations per house in under two minutes.

FCR tracking

Feed conversion ratio is calculated automatically from daily records: always current, never compiled manually.

Mortality categorisation

Log cause of death per mortality event. Identify patterns before they become disease events.

Weight and growth tracking

Weighing session records with auto-calculated averages and comparison against breed growth standards.

Batch performance reports

Closed-batch analytics: cost per kg, margin, FCR, and comparative performance over time.

What changes when operations are systematic

  • Know every batch's live status from any device
  • Catch FCR deterioration within 24 hours, not at close-out
  • Full audit trail for every batch: feed, mortality, health, dispatch
  • Compare performance across batches, houses, and periods automatically

Common questions

How do I record daily mortality?

From the batch dashboard, select the batch and tap 'Daily record'. Enter the mortality count, cause (if known), and any other daily observations. The running mortality rate and FCR update instantly.

Can I manage multiple batches in the same production house simultaneously?

Livestork supports both all-in/all-out and partial house occupancy models. You can run multiple batches per house with separate records while maintaining house-level summaries.

How does batch close-out work?

At close-out, you record the final dispatch weight, sale price, and buyer details. Livestork calculates the final FCR, production cost per kg, gross margin, and populates the close-out report. The batch moves to 'closed' status and feeds into historical performance analytics.

Can I compare batch performance over multiple periods?

Yes. The batch comparison report lets you filter by house, breed, time period, or season and compare FCR, mortality, cost per kg, and margin across batches. Useful for identifying seasonal patterns and improving house performance.
